Extended infrared reality in design and communication

Sažetak

Vidljivi dio spektra za čovjeka je od 400 do 700 nm. Pomoću različitih uređaja omogućeno je i promatranje šireg spectra, od ultraljubičastog (UV) preko vidljivog (plavo, zeleno, crveno tzv RGB) sve do bliskog infracrvenog spectra (NIR). Infracrvene kamere imaju veliku primjenu u  nadzoru, noćnom snimanju, te kontroli dokumenata i vrijednosnica. Pomoću  InfrareDesign patenta (IRD) omogućeno je oblikovanje proširene stvarnosti kroz dizajn, komunikaciju, kodiranje i sigurnosnu grafiku.

Istraživanjem proširenog vizualnog spektra, otkrili smo da pojedine životinje imaju sposobnost prilagođavanja u infracrvenom spektru. Noćni leptiri, koji su u vidljivom spektru šareni, u NIR spektru prelaze u stanje bez odziva. Budući da je čitava flora u NIR spektru također bez odziva, noćni leptiri se u mraku stapaju s prirodom. Za razliku od noćnih, dnevni leptiri nemaju tu sposobnost, vidljivi  su, šareni i time postaju lak plijen. Isto kao što se noćni leptiri kamufliraju u skladu sa biljnim svijetom, tako prilikom dizajniranja vojne uniforme, separacija treba dati nevidljivu sliku u infracrvenom području, naravno,osim na dogovorenim mjestima kodiranja i obilježavanja. 
Grafički proizvod kao što je ambalaža, treba sadržavati čitav niz standardiziranih elemenata za gledanje u NIR spektru, te za automatski prolaz kroz barkod čitače NIR valne duljine. Budući da postoje standardi detekcije i promatranja svijeta u NIR podrućju, u ovom radu prikazani su brojni primjeri aktivnog dizajniranja proširene infracrvene stvarnosti. Osim proširenog dizajna i komunikacije IRD ima i dodanu vrijednost kao vrhunski zaštitni element kojeg je nemoguće kopirati. Proizvod koji na sebi ima dizajniranu skrivenu sliku ili kod, prilikom krivotvorenja prolaskom kroz RGB izgubiti će infracrveno svojstvo. Proizvod se oplemenjuje i štiti Infrared dizajnom, jednako kao što su pojedine životinjske vrste evolucijski razvile posebne sposobnosti za komunikaciju i preživljavanje.

Abstract

The visible part of the spectrum for human being is from 400 to 700 nm. Usage of various devices enables observation in broader spectrum from ultraviolet (UV) through the visible (Blue, Green, Red; so-called RGB) to Near Infrared spectrum (NIR). Infrared cameras have wide applications in supervision, night vision, document monitoring and security. Using Infraredesign patent (IRD), design of an extended reality design, communication, encryption and security graphics is enabled.

Through the investigation of extended visual spectrum, we found that some animals have the ability to adapt in the infrared spectrum. Night butterflies which are colorful in the visible spectrum, transform in the state without response in the NIR spectrum. Since the entire flora in the NIR spectrum is also without response, night butterflies in the dark blend with nature. Unlike the night relatives,day butterflies have not this ability -  they are visible, colorful and become easy chase. Just as the night butterflies camouflage in accordance with the plant world, in designing of  military uniforms separation should be given to an invisible image in the infrared region, except,of course, in the agreed areas of coding and marking. In the field of graphic design products such as packaging, it should contain a range of standardized elements for viewing in the NIR spectrum, and to automatically pass through barcode readers NIR wavelengths. Since there are no standards of world detection and observation in the field of NIR, in this paper numerous examples of active infrared designing expanded reality are shown. Besides extended design and communication, IRD has added value as a top cover element which is impossible to copy. Product with hidden image, loses infrared feature being copied and passing through RGB. The product is improved and protected with InfrareDesign, just as some animal species have developed special evolutionary abilities for communication and survival.

 

Patrik Ervells latest collection is ironically titled “Software”ADIDAS ORIGINALS TUBULAR SHADOW. In the notes from the presentation, Ervell says he was interested in developing tension between nostalgia and sci-fi,NIKE ZOOM WINFLO 3 and even included 90s cyberpunk amongst his influences. Ervell developed this point of view by creating an imaginary software company called Idegen software systems. He then re-appropriated the company’AIR JORDAN XXXI MENs logo in several of the collection’s garments. Elsewhere,MBT TARIKI MEN mohair coats with oversized lapels made an appearance alongside mock neck tees,NIKE AIR JORDAN RETRO 5 police-inspired ribbed sweaters,MBT FORA GTX WOMEN flight bombers, and polyurethane leather coats.
