SSIM metoda kao alat procjene kvalitete konverzije HDR fotografije

Sažetak

Objektivno vrednovanje digitalnog slikovnog zapisa danas ima značajnu ulogu u postupcima kontroli konačnih rezultata postupaka obrade. Iako su takvi postupci u ranijim fazama bili vezani uz monokromatske zapise fotografija u posljednje su vrijeme razvijeni u tom smjeru da se koriste i za procjenu višebojnih fotografija. Posebnu kategoriju u digitalnoj fotografiji predstavlja oblik HDR fotografije odnosno fotografije širokog dinamičkog raspona. HDR fotografija se može definirati kao fotografija koja obuhvaća ukupan dinamički raspon fotografirane scene ili pak kao fotografija koja ima veći raspon tonova nego kod uobičajene fotografije. Kako god da se promatrala cilj ovog rada je ustanoviti do kojih promjena i u kojoj mjeri dolazi prilikom promjene formata zapisa HDR fotografije. Kao referentna korištena je obrađena HDR fotografija pohranjena u JPEG formatu te je konvertirana u WEB-P format uz korištenje različitih postavki konvertera. Kvaliteta konačnih rezultata konverzije uspoređena je s originalom koristeći SSIM metodu kao dominantan postupak objektivnog vrednovanja fotografije.

SSIM method as a tool for assessing the quality of converted HDR photography

Abstract

Objective methods for assessing image quality today have the important role in controlling final results of their processing. Although those methods were developed for monochrome images, lately they have been developed for assessing color images. HDR (high dynamic range) photography represents the specific type of digital photography. It can be defined as the photography that contains the entire dynamic range of photographed scene or otherwise bigger range of tones than conventional photography. No matter how it is defined, the primary goal of this paper is to determine the kind and measure of change in photography in process of their conversion. HDR photography saved in JPEG format was used as the reference and it was afterwards converted to WEB-P using different converter settings. The quality of final results was compared with the original using SSIM as the dominant objective method for assessing image quality.
