Suveremeni zvori znanja pohranjeni su u različitim digitalnim formatima. Elektroničke knjige zamjenjuju papirne, a online baze podataka zamjenjuju knjižnice pune stručnih i znanstvenih časopisa. Digitalni nastavni materijali posjeduju nesumnjive prednosti nad analognima: moguće ih je jednostavno i jeftino distribuirati, razmjenjivati i pretraživati. Međutim, posljedice uporabe digitalnih nastavnih materijala znatno su šire od praktičnih aspekata njihove uporabe. Ovaj rad izrađen je u konceptualnom okviru kritičke teorije, i istražuje društvene aspekte uporabe elektroničkih udžbenika. Rad istražuje korespondenciju digitalnih ograničenja ugrađenih u elektroničke udžbenike sa važećim zakonima o intelektualnom vlasništvu. Rad istražuje odnos uporabe elektroničkih udžbenika sa Bourdieauvim konceptom društvene reprodukcije, odnosno jednakosti učenika i studenata u mogućnostima. Na temelju Illicheva koncepta suživota, rad naposljetku izvodi smjernice za razvoj i uporabu elektroničkih udžbenika.

Social aspects of electronic textbook use

Contemporary sources of knowledge are stored in various digital formats. Electronic books are replacing paper ones, and online databases replace libraries full of expert and scientific magazines. Digital teaching materials possess certain advantages over analogue ones: it is possible to distribute them simply and cheaply, as well as to exchange them and scan them. However, the consequences of using digital teaching materials are significantly wider than the practical sides of their use. This paper has been produced in the conceptual range of critical theory, and it researches the social aspects of using electronic textbooks. The work researches correspondence of digital limitations incorporated into electronic textbooks with the laws on intellectual property that is in force. The paper researches the relation of using electronic textbooks with Boudieaus concept of social reproduction, i.e. the equality of pupils and students as to their possibilities. The work finally develops guidelines for the development and use of electronic textbooks on basis of Ilichev’s concept on coexistence.
